THE DALE SIEVERS FUND FOR THE FUTURE
The Dale Sievers Fund for the Future assists first-time TFLTA annual conference attendees.
In 1992, in celebration of the 25th anniversary of its founding, TFLTA established the TFLTA Fund for the Future to support professional growth and development for foreign language teachers in Tennessee. Income from the investment of generous contributions from friends of TFLTA, special donations specifically solicited for the Fund for the Future, and profits from sales of official TFLTA souvenir items is used to support the awards.
The Fund for the Future was renamed in honor and memory of Dale Sievers following his death in December, 1994. Dale was a charter member of the organization and served for many years as its treasurer. His careful management of TFLTA funds during his tenure helped make the creation of the Fund for the Future possible.
In 2007, the TFLTA board decided to select one recipient as the “Sabra Clayton Memorial Winner” of the Dale Sievers Fund for the Future, in memory of long-time TFLTA member and former President, Sabra Clayton.
The application form is posted on the “Conference” link to the left in the months preceding the annual conference in November. The deadline for applications is normally September 1. |
